Clarence Earl Bazemore

August 19, 2020

On Wednesday, August 19, 2020, God called His own angel, Clarence Earl Bazemore, to eternal peace and reward. He was born on July 6, 1961 in Hampton, VA to the late Dace C. Bazemore, Sr. and Ernestine (Exum) Bazemore.  He was married to his loving and devoted wife, Karen Davenport Bazemore, for over 27 years.  He graduated from Hampton High School in 1980 and South Carolina State University in 1985 with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.  He was employed by Maag Pump Systems, Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry Dock Company and M.B. Kahn Construction Company as a Mechanical Engineer.  He was extremely proud to be the Lead Site Safety Manager in the building of George P. Phenix PreK-8 School and Hunter B. Andrews PreK-8 School here in Hampton, VA

Clarence (affectionately known as Baze) played football in high school and was on the swim team as well.  He attended college on a swim scholarship.  Baze loved watching professional football and basketball.

Clarence was initiated as a member of the Hampton-Newport News Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. on March 27, 2010. He was active until his health failed him. Clarence loved being a mentor to young boys and was an assistant intermediate coach for the Kappa Cardinals football team.

Clarence was a father figure to many of his son’s friends from high school and college.  He was especially fond of Tyreek Bailey and loved him like another son.  He often sat them down to have “life” talks.  He would always end his talks and visits by saying “Say your prayers and make smart decisions”.

Baze wrote this profound statement in his memo book:

“God has a prepared blessing for me and you”.  Baze was certainly a blessing to his family and all who loved him.

He was preceded in death by his father, Dace C. Bazemore, Sr. , his daughter, Regina Cynthia Bazemore and lifelong friend Kurt Massey.

Clarence leaves to cherish his precious memories, his devoted wife, Karen Davenport Bazemore, his son Arrington Houston Bazemore, and daughters Deiondreax Johnson and Deja Johnson, his mother Ernestine Bazemore, one brother Dace C. Bazemore, Jr., one sister Annice Jefferson, two godchildren TaNeisha Ramsey-Priester and Keisha Ramsey, his lifelong friends Johnnie Ramsey, Angelo Greer and Freeman Blizzard  and a host of nieces, nephews, other family members and close friends.
