Mr. Jackson Evans Jr. (Jack) was born on June 15, 1936 in Surry Virginia to the late Jackson Sr. and Virginia Evans. He entered eternal rest on Friday June 20, 2025, at his home with his family around him.
Jackson Jr. was preceded in death by his son Jackson Eugene Evans, and siblings James Allen Evans, Richard Leon Evans, Joyce Lane, and Teresa Holmes.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, his devoted wife of 65 years Mary Frances, daughters Jacqueline Evans Byrd (Tony) of Killeen Texas and Janet V. Moore (Ed) of Yorktown, Virginia. Four grandchildren: Jacqueline Beauchamp (Anthony) of San Antonio Texas, Andre Evans of Tampa Florida, Tiffany Davis (Alton) of Okinawa Japan, and Jazmine Moore of Yorktown Virginia, five great grandchildren, his siblings Rossie Evans Sr. of Elberon Virginia, Willie Ray Evans (Betty) of Elberon Virginia, William Davis Evans (Divrine) of Elberon Virginia, Rosemary Williams of Williamsburg Virginia, and a wealth of nephews, nieces, cousins, and good friends.
Jackson Jr. (Jack) attended Luther Porter Jackson High School, Dendron Virginia. He joined Mount Moriah African Methodist Episcopal Church at an early age. He was a member of the choir and in his final years of attendance served as a senior trustee. He retired from the Newport News Shipyard. He also served as a proud member of the Surry County Progressive Men’s Club.
Jackson Jr. (Jack) was an avid sportsman and was a member of the Running Meade Hunt Club of Elberon Virginia. He enjoyed hunting, gardening, and just being outside. He adored being with his family for visits, celebrations, and vacations.
He always said “ I’m a lucky man. I’ve had a really good life. I have a loving wife and two wonderful daughters. I lost my son, but he was a good man, and I miss him. However, I have two sons-in-law who are both very good men. I also have the best grandchildren and great grandchildren anyone could hope for.”
Jackson Jr. (Jack) loved everyone and enjoyed any opportunity to laugh and talk with his siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who he adored.
