Hessie Frank Cabell was born on February 19, 1925 in Staunton, Virginia, to the late Jane Dickerson and Hessie Frank Cabell Sr. While there, he graduated from high school and at a very young age entered into the US Army on June 5,1943. He served honorably dur ing World War II in the Asian Pacific Theater Burma campaign and was discharged at the convenience of the government at the end of World War II December 17, 1945. Subsequently, at the startup of the US Air Force, he entered back into service with the Air Force. He served honorably and with distinction, before retiring on June 30, 1970. During his service, he received numerous medals to include the Presidential Unit Citation, Air Force Commendation, , Air Force Out standing Unit, Air Force Longevity Service Award, and Small Arms Expert Marksmanship, to name a few.
Frank, as he was affectionately known, had a loving spirit and was willing to do almost anything for others. This included taking people out for dinner and not sparing any expense. These dinner outings of ten involved his favorite restaurant Tommy’s on Mercury Blvd. Not only did Frank feed you physically, he would feed you spiritually. He did not hesitate answering any questions about the Word of God by directing you to the Bible where you could find the answer. He was a willing worker at Bethel Temple Church where he served as an usher.
Frank leaves to cherish his memory, a loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Eunice Blanche Cabell; eight children; David Cabell (Mitsuko), Thomas Watkins (Donna), Stephanie Cabell, Tanya La mar (Anthony), Donald Cabell (Amy), Ronald Cabell, Terri Roberts (Anthony), and Melany Cabell (Thomas); and one sister, Sharon Mel ville. He is preceded in death by two sisters; Betty Ann Easton and Marguerite Carter; and one brother, Edward Cabell.
