JD was born in Washington, D.C. and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He served honorably in the US Army. He attended Thomas Nelson Community College and ECPI. He worked in Civil Disobedience and Security at the Pentagon and retired from the Naval Weapons Station. JD was the proud owner of the Superior Transport Company, one of the first medical transport companies in the city. JD was a long-time former member of the Dochiki Civic and Social Club Inc.
JD dearly loved his wife Joan of 51 years and treasured his extended family. He was a gentle giant who loved jazz, history, old movies, good food and good Cognac. He was a Father and Grandfather to many. He took every opportunity to share his stories about growing up in Brooklyn, his time in the Army, our first date and his ideology of life.
Two things I could depend on him doing daily, reminding me that he was 80 years old and asking me “did I tell you I love you today”
Our Father in Heaven has granted my sweet husband and Best Friend JD entry and he’s with the Lord enjoying hymns of praise
God thank you for rescuing JD from any suffering and pain. God thank you for blessing me with strength to endure. God thank you for honoring me with a man that loved me beyond words untold. God thank you for allowing me to honor my vows “in sickness and in health”. God thank you for 51 years of love and then allow both my tears of joy and sadness to heal my heart.
Baby I will see you in the morning,
Lovingly Joan
