Mrs. Gabriella Wooden Clark Obituary

Mrs. Gabriella (Gaye) Wooden Clark was called to be with the lord on April 30, 2021, at Memorial Regional Medical Center. She was born on August 17, 1948, to Lacy L. Wooden and Rebecca Johns Wooden. She accepted Jesus Christ at an early age and join Lebanon Baptist Church in Surry, VA.
Gabriella lived her early life in Prince George, VA where she attended their public schools and lived on a 236-acre farm. She later attended Hampton University where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and became a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Inc.
Gabriella married William Edward Clark in which they remained in Surry; VA until God called William home in 1993. With this union came two children, Valisa Clark and William Marvin Clark.
Gabriella worked in the shipyard in Newport News eventually finding her calling working at Dominion Energy. While working there, she ordered transformers and specialized equipment, traveling from Surry to Richmond occasionally until she retired after working for over 20 years. After she retired, she was adamant about growing things in her famous greenhouse that was located on her property. If you would ask her about a specific plant, she would educate you how what the plant was, how to maintain the plant and how to produce more. She also believed in helping the community. By doing so, she was on the Planning Commission for many years in Surry, Va.  She was very exquisite in knowing the zoning districts as well as formulate, plan and execute policies for the economic development for Surry County, Va.
Gabriella always kept her faith in God. She believed all things are possible through God who gave her strength. She was a committed member of Bacon Castle for many years, serving as a faithful servant until her health began declining.
Gabriella also enjoyed traveling to various places. Gabriella has traveled to a different state with her parents growing up in the summertime as well traveling to Hawaii, Bahamas and her last trip to New Orleans. She was famous for wearing her high heels, painting her nails red and getting her hair done. As her health declined, she was diligent on watching movies, had a passion for speaking her mind whether you agreed or not and spending time with her grandchildren. The bible states, “To everything there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven; A time to be born, and a time to die, a time to plant, and a time to pluck up which is planted” Ecclesiastes 3:1-2. Therefore, Gabriella was a strong well person who finished her course and kept the faith in God through it all.
Gaye was preceded in death by her parents Lacy L. Wooden and Rebecca Johns Wooden; husband William Edward Clark; daughter Valisa Clark, sister Faye Wooden Freeman; brother in laws; Bernard Freeman, Joe Clark, John Clark.
