Mrs. Thelma Lee Perry Obituary

Mrs.Thelma Lee Lyons Perry went home to be with the Lord on September 19, 2020, at Virginia Health Services - Coliseum Convalescent & Rehabilitation Center in Hampton, VA.  She was born to the late Sammie and Fannie Lyons on June 21, 1933 in Terrell. TX.


She married the love of her life the Rev. Thurmon Perry. To this union were born two daughters Linda Tippens and Carol A. Kelley, all  preceded her in death.  


Mrs. Perry worked as a nurse for over 36 years, specializing in long-term care.  She loved to sing and play the piano and was a former member of the group “The Heavenly Sisters”.  While she was in the nursing home in Dallas, TX, she played the piano and sang for the residents.  She was a license Missionary and an Ordained Minister at Christ Deliverance Missionary Baptist Church, Dallas, TX.   After the death of her daughter Linda, Mrs. Perry relocated to Virginia to be closer to her daughter Carol and son-in-law George. She engaged in fellowship with them at Ivy Baptist Church. Mrs. Perry had an INFECTIOUS SMILE and an UNFORGETTABLE LAUGH.


In addition to her husband, daughters and parents Mrs. Perry is preceded in death by her siblings Sammie Jr. Lyons, Willie Lyons, Pinkie Smith, James Lyons, Juanita Watson Nickerson, Joe Louis Lyons, Nicie Jennie Jones, twins Frank and Fred Lyons, Frances Wonzer, Bessie Banks and Mack Curtis Lyons.  

Mrs. Perry leaves to cherish her memories her grandson Stevon Tippens of Dallas, Texas. Sister Mary “Honey” Brooks (Samuel) of Dallas, Texas. Son-in-law George L. Kelley, Jr. of Newport News, Virginia. And by numerous nieces, nephews and a host of other relatives in Texas, Nevada, Missouri and California.
