Terri Tucker Sanchez entered eternal rest on Monday, February 10, 2020 surrounded by her family at Riverside Regional Medical Center. Terri was born on May 21, 1970 in Newport News,
Virginia.
Terri demonstrated her endless love in many ways as a devoted mother to her daughter and “love of her life,” Mia. She was a loving daughter to Clifton and Arnetta Slade and Timothy and
Petra Tucker, a loyal sister to her brother, Paul Tucker, and a favorite auntie to her nephew, Tyler Tucker. Terri will be greatly missed by her grandmothers, Blanche Tucker of Hampton, Virginia and Ernestine Slade of Surry, Virginia. Terri was a loveable
niece to her uncle William C. Lewis (Kimberly) of Canyon County, California and aunt Edythe George (John) of Carrollton, Virginia. She also leaves to cherish her memory her six siblings: Paul Tucker of Henderson, Nevada; Timothy Smith (LaTisha) of Burlington,
New Jersey; LaSonya White (Ralph) of Surry, Virginia; Tameka Woodruff (Dexter) of Brandywine, Maryland; Andre Cottman of Los Angeles, California and Julian Brown of Hampton, Virginia.
Terri had a lifelong passion for learning and was recognized for her sharp intellect. She received her academic education from Gloucester High School in Gloucester, Virginia and continued
on to receive her Bachelors of Arts degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in Richmond, Virginia in 1999. She went on to pursue advanced degrees, and received a Master's degrees from University of Phoenix, Arizona in Curriculum and Instruction and Averett
University of Danville, Virginia in Administration and Supervision.
Terri was employed by Newport News Public School System as an Aviation teacher. During her employment, she was selected as a Master Teacher for VSGC Space Coast Scholars. Terri excelled
at curriculum development; she completed the first online Aviation course and developed Air Traffic Control, as well as the Airport Operations/ Airport Management courses for the Aviation Academy.
Terri’s favorite pastimes were spending time with her daughter, talking to her mom on the telephone and coaching softball for the Denbigh Softball League. She also enjoyed traveling
with her family, baking her delicious Christmas cookies and having fun with her friends at the casino. Terri was a faithful friend and trusted confidant to many.
Terri will be sadly missed by her nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and host of devoted friends. Her contagious laugh, quick wit and giving nature were a tremendous joy in many lives. We
thank God for the blessings and love our precious Terri shared with us all.
