Rita Mason-Lucas, the daughter of Charles Mason and the late Josephine F. McCandies, departed this life on December 10, 2020.

    Rita spent most of her years in the Hampton Roads area.  After graduating from Hampton High School, she attended Virginia Commonwealth University where she received a degree in Mass Communications.

    In a career that spanned over twenty-five years in healthcare, Rita worked in sales at Ortho-McNeil Pharmaceutical, and Bons Secours in Hampton Roads.  She also served as a pharmaceutical representative for Johnson and Johnson.

    Rita’s passions were reading and a love for arts and crafts which was reflective in the jewelry she made for her family, friends and her sorority sisters of Alpha Kappa Alpha.

    She will be missed by her daughter, Olivia Grace Mason-Lucas; father, Charles Mason; sister, Kim Coleman; aunts, Ada F. Sloan (Curtis) and Wilhelmenia F. Wallace; cousins, Herbert Holley (Shauna), Ian Holley (Angie), and Ryan Wallace (Christle); numerous family members and friends.

    Due to COVID-19 restrictions, a private family service will be held in Rita’s memory.
