Rosa Belle Charity Price, 103, went to her heavenly home on May 10, 2022. She was born in Surry, VA on February 8, 1919, to Chessie Poole Charity and Raymond Charity. Rosa graduated from Huntington High School in 1938 and went on to work as a secretary for a local dental office and a paraprofessional at Jefferson Elementary School. But her most cherished roles were that of devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. Rosa was also a long-time member of First Church of Newport News (Baptist) which was founded by her great grandfather Rev. Thomas Poole III. Rosa, having lived a long and full life of service, was honored as a Mother of the Church and received the Lifelong Citizen Award from the City of Newport News. She was also a member of the Order of the Eastern Star PHA VA. She was fun-loving and hilarious. And as a woman of faith, grace, and elegance, she will be missed greatly.
Rosa was preceded in death by her husband Arthur L. Price; parents Chessie and Raymond Charity; siblings Gertrude Holmes, Ethel Christian, and Raymond Charity; son Arthur Larry Price; and grandson Martel Price. She leaves to cherish her memory her son Newport News Mayor McKinley L. Price, DDS (Valerie), daughter Pamela Price Parker; grandchildren Arthur Price (Ann), Tonya Wyche (James), Dr. McKinley L. Price II (Amy), Delegate Marcia S. Price, and Raven Parker; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 nieces and nephews; 5 grand nieces and nephews; 5 great-grand nieces and nephews; and a host of loving cousins and friends. Mrs. Price may be viewed and the Price Family may be greeted on Friday May13, 2022, from 5 p.m. through 7 p.m. at Berceuse Funeral Home. A Celebration of Life service will be held on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at noon at First Church of Newport News (Baptist) on Wickham Avenue.
