Valarie B. McElroy

On November 27^, 2022, Valarie (Blount) McElroy was suddenly taken from this side and received into the hands of her heavenly father into eternal rest. Valarie was born in Manhattan, NY on September 15, 1964. 

Valarie later moved to Virginia with her family and attended the Virginia State School for the Deaf and Blind in Hampton, VA. One thing about Valarie is she never let her “disability” prevent her from living life. Valarie would light up any room that she entered. Her warm personality wouldn’t let anyone be a stranger for long. She loved to help and assist others and she always knew how to make those around her feel welcomed and loved. Those that knew her would describe her as sweet, kind, fun-loving and fashionable. 

Valarie leaves behind to cherish her memories her two daughters; Lynthis McElroy-Butler (Son-in-law - Harrison Trevon Butler III) and Candice Daniels; two grandchildren- Messiah (5) and Iris (3) Butler. Her father and mother Thurman and Janie Mae Blount. One brother, Rodney Blount (Vendelene Blount); one sister, Shavawn Ragsdale (Brother-in-Law - Brandon Ragsdale) three nephews and one niece. Longtime friend and companion Raymond Barnes, and a host of family and friends that Valarie met along her beautiful journey in this life.

. A Celebration of life service will be held Thursday December 8, 2022, 12 noon at Sixth Mount Zion Baptist Church. Viewing 11-12 prior to service. Please keep the family in your thoughts and prayers.
